Position Details: Wireless Principal Systems Engineer - Dynamic Spectrum Access

Description:

Working with a start-up team on cutting-edge 5G wireless spectrum management and access products.  This role requires designing and/or investigating advanced algorithms for Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA). Ability to work in a start-up environment, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently as well as with a team are critical for this role.  

 

Roles/Responsibilities:

Leads end-to-end system design, simulation, implementation, and qualification of:

  • Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) solution in frequency-constrained environments and based on primary user information (e.g., location, device), secondary user requests, and a radio environment map (terrain, propagation, buildings, foliage)
  • Creates and/or specifies labs for system test & performance evaluation
  • Creates system architecture, functional and design specifications
  • Measures compliance against standards
  • Reports status against project plan
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing to optimize design and verify performance

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Expert understanding of radio propagation models. Able to determine & analyze link budgets for various technologies
  • Understanding of cellular network planning, requirements, and measurements (e.g., UE reports, KPIs)
  • Experience with machine learning and optimization algorithms
  • Able to design & implement distributed computing algorithms
  • Experience in one or more programming languages & concepts required: Matlab, Simulink, C/C++, Java, Python
  • Experience working in an agile (scrum) development environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Master’s or Ph.D Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with Ph.D preferred
